How to Identify Symptoms of Heartburn

The word “heartburn” simply describes a burning sensation caused when stomach acid gets into contact with the esophagus. It is usually not a dangerous condition but if it becomes chronic, it develops into a condition known as Gastrointestinal Reflex disease (GERD). One may experience food stuck at the back of the throat, a choking feeling, or chest pressure.

One should be warned that some heartburn symptoms resemble those of a heart attack. If one is experiencing symptoms such as a cold sweat sensation, pain from the chest moving up to the shoulder, chest tightening, shortness of breath or dizziness, they are most likely suffering from cardiac problems.
